Anyone have burnt out the sensor when record video by camera?
I like the Canon t2i and capturing HD video but I’m afraid of destroying the sensor by exposing it too long for video. Any idea.
Yes, I guess it is a possibility, but Canon has a safety device on it that shuts off the camera if the sensor starts to get too hot. The heat produced by CMOS sensors is one reason nearly all the HD video cameras sold use a 3-CCD capture system.
If you are using your camera the same way the pros do, your takes will not last more than a few minutes. Pros use a shooting script and shoot each scene until they get a good take. Then they move on to the next shot. Shooting this way, the sensor in your camera will never get too hot.
My guess is you start recording and don’t stop until either the camera fills the memory card or shuts off due to high heat at the sensor. Don’t do that.
The Canon T2i was never intended to be a Surveillance Camera.
