What points to what in the following assignment statement?
pointer = ptr;
Assuming it would be correct for a pointer to point to another pointer, would pointer be pointing to ptr or would ptr be pointing to pointer?
‘pointer’ gets modified to have the same value as ‘ptr’ has. So pointer ends up pointing to the same char that ‘ptr’ is pointing to, whatever that might be.
Pointers are allowed to point to other pointers, and they can even point to themselves, but that’s not the situation you have here.
